Tit boxes - how far apart? - BirdForum
...Can anyone advise how far apart will Blue/Great Tits be prepared to nest in boxes? The box we placed in a tree has caused such a ferocious series of scraps between several pairs of Blue and Great Tits, that I feel we should put at least one more box up to ease the tension. But I don't want to......

Blackbirds - Same nest for next brood? | BirdForum
...The bad news is, probably not. Blackbirds are notorious for deserting nests and it is highly unlikely that they'll rebuild elsewhere. Blackbirds will not use a nestbox under any circumstances, but leaving the nest there may encourage another pair to nest next year. Unfortunately, the breeding season is all but done for most birds, better luck next year....

Vintage binoculars, what is good? - BirdForum
...As Steve suggested how about a discussion on what vintage binoculars are still worth pursuing. My knowledge of some of the binoculars mentioned in the 1960's/1970's thread is very lacking. Thoughts on any vintage modules and their strongpoints would be greatly appreciated....

Nikon Action EWX 8x40 - review - BirdForum
...I've decided to write short review on Nikon Action 8x40 EX. Many people ask for good and cheap binoculars, so they might find the answer here. I bought my pair of Nikon about half year ago after short studies of my wallet and long studies of many Internet pages. So long I've been using old......

Opticron Piccolo 60mm - any good? - BirdForum
...HI, I wondered if anyone had experience of this scope - it's a tad long in the tooth and discontinued I think, but I saw a good deal and wondered if it was worth getting. Any advice, comments gratefully received. The one I saw comes with a 25-60mm eyepiece - but I'm not sure which model. Thanks....

KOWA TSN-1, advice please - BirdForum
...I have recently bought a Opticron 665 scope and my mother has just discovered my late fathers Kowa TSN-1. Its in great condition and has a 20 - 60x zoom lens on it. I know this scope is old, is it better quality than the Opticron scope? Is the Kowa worth keeping hold of? Thanks...

Kowa 663 - BirdForum
...Regarding the difference between the APO and non-APO Televid, my understanding is that you will see the difference when viewing a dark bird in a tree against a bright sky. The non-APO will probably show fringing. The APO will show none, or just a hint. Same goes for a bird in flight, but maybe you are less likely to follow birds in flight with a scope? (I do it with a 20x eyepiece without ......

South Miami Dade and Everglades National Park - BirdForum
...Everglades National Park is one of the best winter birding locations in the United States. Over 20 species of warbler are regularly reported during the winter season. Add in the waders, shorebirds, flycatchers and others, and you've got a great birding location. To get to the main portion of the park, follow the Turnpike to the end at Florida City....
